Fountain Hills Fountain from the Lake Overlook Trail
Fountain Hills fountain at night

During the Phoenix summers we take a lot more night outings as it's uncomfortably hot while the sun is up. Founain Hills is best know for what was once the tallest fountain in the world. It has since dropped a couple spots, but is still equally impressive as the 4th tallest at 330 ft.

We began the night with food and drink at the All American Sports Bar just off the lake as we waited for the sun to set. They were super accommodating with our large group and the food was delicious! We took the Lake Overlook Trail up for a beautiful view of the city. The trail is a 2.5 loop around the entire lake, however we just hiked up to the view and back down. Don't forget to pack water, especially on the hot days. Even though it seems short the first 5 minutes or so on the way up are fairly steep. The fountain goes off every hour for 15 minutes from 9AM-9PM. We used our tripods and slow shutter speeds to get these fun images!
